Speaking against the backdrop of recent struggles of the various women national teams, especially the Falconets losing to Ghana in the African Games final, Danjuma confessed that coaches have to manage different attitudes of their players.
He also spoke about his personal experience in the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL), where he handles Nasarawa Amazons FC, and confessed that his players face many distractions.
Danjuma submitted that Nigerian female players are distracted with national team ambitions and plans of going abroad, which every coach must know how to manage and develop their wards appropriately.
He added: “Female club coaches are really trying. It takes real sacrifice for you to coach in the Nigerian women’s league.
“We have to think about technical matters and how to build the players’ mentality.
“We should think about the future of the players and build them with the mentality to play well, not waiting for any outside gains.
“The first thing to note is that these are players that are hoping and believing for opportunities to play for the national teams.
“Secondly, they should be able to take their trade outside the country. It is from this league that we have to build in them the right mentality.
“The mentality that we build in them here is what they will take outside this country.
“It is that mentality they will use to sustain themselves or come back home. I hope they will not come back empty.”
