Head coach of Delta Queens, Tosan Blankson speaking in the wake of the NWFL resumption for the second phase games where the ‘Super Six’ teams will be determined has revealed what his team pursuits are.
Having won 1-2 away against Women’s Confederation Cup bronze medalist in Bayelsa Queens, the two teams played a 1-1 draw for the reverse fixture in Delta State.
In an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng, the tactician allayed that both games aren’t different even if it might be the same opponent.
“Two games are not the same. Beating Bayelsa Queens in the first round, I just want to be specific here because taking a three (3) weeks break to start the second round it’s uncalled for.”
“You don’t expect to see a team playing the same way you saw them playing after a three weeks break,” he further buttressed.
“The match in Asaba was a very good match from both teams, a mistake from the full back gave the equaliser and in football there’s room for mistakes but we always pray it doesn’t lead to a goal.”
“The momentum you mentioned is still as high as we started the season.”
Justifying his team’s 1-1 draw;
“This is what you call game management in a league. You don’t expect winning the group A table with 40 points and not winning the Super Six, the girls are fully focused on this, there’s no distraction,” Tosan assured.
On his team’s ultimate goal;
“The plan for the second round is still intact, because it has started alread with a draw against Bayelsa Queens.”
“And the plan is not meant for the public to know. When the abridged league ends, the plan will be visible.”
“Plans for the Super Six is the ultimate now,” he concluded.
