The Lagos State Coaches Association, LSFCA under the leadership of Tairu Hassan was provisionally suspended, dismissed as a Congress member of the Lagos State Football Association over the weekend by the Lagos State FA after a virtual executive meeting, citing insubordination and gross misconduct.

We gathered that the dismissal and suspension was pronounced and took immediate effect after seven members of the executive voted for the sanctions, out of the 12 members of the Lagos State Football Association executive members who attended the virtual meeting.

The final ratification of the sanction is subject to the General Congress as only four members voted against the sanctions and one member abstained from the voting.

Beyond the broad reasons, www.sports247.ng exclusively scooped the specific reasons for the dismissal of the Lagos Football Coaches by LSFA executives.

In a letter dated 3rd of January to the Lagos State FA, signed by President and the Secretary of the Association cited by correspondent, the football coaches body queried the authority of the state football body to send coaches to the Nigeria Institute of Sports, NIS for training without the approval of the Lagos State Football Coach Association, LSFCA.

The Football Coach described the action Lagos FA as divisive and strongly warned the highest football governing body in the state to amend its approach and collaborate with LSFCA in managing the affairs of football coaches in the State by seeking approval accordingly.

In a swift reaction to the letter and their demands, the LSFA rejected any suggestions that share the controls and authority football and related matters in the state with any affiliate body, in the letter titled Re: Memo To Lagos State Football Association, LSFA dated 20th January 2025.

The letter also clarified that the LSFA is not obligated to seek any approval, or any form of correspondence from the coaches body before the FA can initiate, proceed with or execute any coaches development program including the recent NIS coaching programme for the development of coaches in the state.

Hence the demand for approval by the coaches contravenes several laws and statues governing football in the state.

The LSFA also affirmed that the coaches association has shown, overtime, disloyalty to the football body, an act punishable under the different sections of the statues.

Hence concluded that “the LSFCA under your leadership are hereby dismiss provisionally as a Congress Member and as a body with immediate effect in line with Article 14.2,” a part of the letter reads.
