Re-elected Ogun State Football Association chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi has revealed all there is to know about his administration plan to develop sports at all levels within the state while giving insights on the the level of preparedness for the upcoming National sports festival which will be hosted by the state.
Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi won the election as Chairman Ogun State Football Association at the just concluded elective congress held at Agroterra Gulf Resort, Joga Orile, Yewa North Local government, Ogun State wining unopposed having polled 23 votes from a possible 23.
In an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng, Alhj. Majek as popularly called admitted that the hosting right for the national sports festival is the biggest of project in his administration and at such, they will make sure that it will be a successful event.
“It’s an opportunity for me to serve the state again, infact, this time around most of the things we haven’t achieved before, we are going to achieve it,” he began in his interview.
“Thank God, the developmental program we have been doing has reached the peak now which we wil be showcasing in the next National Sports Festival that Ogun State will be hosting.”
“This will be my very first project and the project has been on for over some years now, the day they came from the last sports festival telling me that we are are going to be hosting next, there have been plans and preparations.”
“The Governor has already signed an MOU with the Federal ministry of youths and sports to show that it’s a big privilege for us to host next year and its going to be the first project we are facing now,” he added.
“We will make sure that with all that we have now, two gold that’s expected from the male and female, we will try our possible best to give it to the state,” Alhaji Ganiyu promised.
Continuing further, the astute sports administrator stated that there will be improvement on all the developmental programs and also discovering new talents in both the male and female category but there will be more focus on the female football that has been lacking behind in the state.
“We want to bring them out to the limelight, nurture them to bring glory to the sports in the state and to Nigeria.”
“We are going to create a good atmosphere for our clubs, state government owned clubs and the private owned clubs who are spending their money in football. We are going to encourage them and make sure we give them all the support they need.”
The Abeokuta, Ogun State born football administrator will lead the football body for the 4th term in the Gateway state.
Commenting on that, he said – “coming back means that the people still have believe in our administration, no one contested against us during the election, it was free and free.”
“Now, we will do more than what we have been doing to make sure that Ogun State still remain what we are as the first and best in Nigeria,” he concluded.
Mr. Julius Akinkunmi emerged as Vice Chairman, while Mr. Abiodun Odejimi (Ogun Central), Alhaji Fatai Oyerogba (Ogun Central), Mr. Akeem Adeyemi (Ogun West) and Chief Okebunmi Akeem (Ogun West) won a seat in the board.
Others who emerged as board members are Mr. Orenuga A.A (Ogun East), Princess Olayinka Adesola (Ogun East), and Mr. Femi Bamgboye (Ogun East). Legal luminary, Barrister Abayomi Omoyinmi who chaired the electoral committee charged the newly inaugurated board to consolidate on the success achieved in times past.
