With 101 caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Ex International and former Captain, Joseph Michael Yobo is optimistic that he will get his coaching license in no time.
In an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng, Yobo explained, “I have not finalized it, it is work in progress but definitely it will come through, if not for this pandemic,”
In his words, “One thing I like is that I am practical kind of person. I said that even when I talked about the local players. Put me against somebody and watch what happens. I am not proud of what I think I can do, I never, I let my work speak for me.”
“Same as a player, you hardly see me speak but when I speak you know I have spoken.”, affirmed Yobo.
Yobo was questioned on if he is experiencing any pressure as one of the coaches of the Super Eagles team.
The former Everton FC of England captain answered, “I am calm, I make all the decisions. Like basically when I was a captain or even before I was a captain. I do not need to gather people to ask for too many opinions before I make a decision.”
I make a decision. As a leader, you make decisions, that has how my whole career has been.”
Yobo shed more light on the question asked by saying, “I have been a leader from going to school to playing. I was the captain of Nigeria in my third cap in my active playing days.”
Joseph Yobo was a key member of the Nigeria Super Eagles Team for over a decade from the year 2001 to 2014, scoring a total of 7 goals. In June 2014, Captain Joseph Yobo retired from International football for Nigeria as joint record holder in term of National team appearance alongside Veteran goalkeeper and compatriot. Vincent Enyeama.
