Super Falcons defender, Glory Ogbonna who recently completed her transfer from Turkish side, ALG Spor to Besiktas has revealed the motivation behind her move as she vows total commitment to her new side.
Formerly of Edo Queens, the lethal defender has officially completed her move to Besiktas as they look to climb up the log with ALG Spor sitting pretty comfortably top of the log.
In an exclusive interview with foremost Nigeria grassroots sports platform, Sports247.ng, Ogbonna revealed all about her move, what she has to offer and how the fans has helped through thier encouragement to shape her career.
On why she moved and what she will be offering;
“It’s a shocking move honestly because I never saw it coming but as a player, when a big team wants you, it means that you have something to deliver, they have seen some good potentials in you,” she began.
“When I got the news that they want to sign me, I was happy because looking at the team, they are a big side so I decided to key in and bring out the best of my potential to help the team.”
“It’s a good move for me, Besiktas is a well known team and it’s true that my former team are the league leaders but sometimes, when good money is involved, it’s a deal.”
“I’m happy that I am here, looking forward to helping them come forward in the table, they are currently placed fifth and they are trying to get players to beef up the team.”
“My former team are five points clear on the log and I think that’s why they accepted this offer from Besiktas to let me go as they are top already, she explained of the deal.
“But, it’s all good. I’m going to work hard to show my skills and show my abilities to help the team come up on the table.”
To her ever supportive fans;
“I want to thank my fans who have been there since the beginning, although I don’t know how to appreciate them enough as they have been supporting me ever since I left my home country and playing in Europe.”
“Believing and encouraging me to do better. I still want them to continue to do that, advices and encouragement that I have received from them always push me more further to do more and I won’t disappoint them,” Glory vowed.
“We are still looking out for big offers ahead so I’m honestly happy with the fans who are there to always advice me and make sure I become a better player in my career and I promise I will always give my best not to disappoint them,” she assured.
On how her move from different clubs has helped her as a player to grow in experience;
“Ofcourse, ever since I left my home country and playing in Europe, I have been having a whole lot of experience from one country to another, one coach to another.”
“So, all these knowledge have been gathering so far has been helping me a lot to grow more.”
“I’m very happy that I’m getting all these experience, getting to work with different coaches and at the same time gathering experience from each of those I have worked with, it has really helped me a lot,” she concluded.
