The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) will kick off the season with the Preliminary Rounds of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
The First Preliminary Round First Leg matches are scheduled to take place between August 16 and 18, with the return legs set for August 23 to 25. Following this, the Second Preliminary Round will commence between September 13 and 15 for the first legs, with the return fixtures to be played between September 20 and 22. These matches will determine the final teams advancing to the Group Stages of both prestigious competitions.
Top clubs such as Al Ahly SC (Egypt), Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) are among the highest-ranked teams exempted from the first preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. Similarly, 12 of the highest-ranked clubs in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, including title holders Zamalek SC, are also exempt from the initial round.
Despite these being the early stages of the competitions, fans can expect thrilling matchups as clubs across the continent aim to secure their spots in the second round and, ultimately, the group stages.
Key fixtures to watch in the CAF Champions League include reigning Tanzanian champions Young Africans facing Vital’O FC of Burundi, while Egypt’s Pyramids FC take on JKU SC of Zanzibar. Former champions Orlando Pirates FC will face Disciples FC of Madagascar.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Zambia’s Zesco United will clash with Dynamos FC of Zimbabwe, while Morocco’s UTS hosts RS Abidjan of Côte d’Ivoire. Ghana’s Nsoatreman FC will welcome TP Elect Sport of Chad in what promises to be an exciting encounter.
