Unlike previous editions that solely featured a half-marathon, this year’s marathon will include a five-kilometer fun run, inviting families and recreational runners to join in the festivities.
Aspiring participants are encouraged to secure their free registration forms at various locations, including the ECOWAS secretariat, AFN secretariat in Abuja, sports offices across the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory, and the Rugby Football Federation office in Abuja, according to a statement released by the organizers.
The half marathon will kick off from the ECOWAS secretariat, while the five-kilometer race is scheduled to commence at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway. Both races will culminate at Eagles Square, where a plethora of engaging activities and entertainment await participants, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
Race Director Gabriel Okon, representing Y & T Sports Management, emphasized the significance of this year’s theme: “promoting integration among ECOWAS citizens.” He encouraged Nigerians of all ages in Abuja and beyond to actively participate in this inclusive event, fostering unity across the sub-region.
