Players and officials of Excellent football club have left Ughelli Delta State earlier on Tuesday for Abidjan ahead of 2021 Tournoi International de Football Koumassi TIK-K tournament September 4 kickoff date.
Excellent FC have been drawn in Group A alone side Diambars FC (CIV), Top Foot FC (Togo) and NFCY FC (CIV) with matches to be placed at the Agora Complexe Sportif de Koumassi in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The team’s itinerary made available to EFC Media by the CEO Mr Onome James shows that the team will have a brief stop over in Lagos before setting out to Abidjan on Wednesday.
Speaking on going to Abidjan, Excellent FC duo, team captain Emmanuel Peters and assistant captain Ovie Olakpa said they are focused and ready for the challenge ahead.
“We are excited, focused and ready. We know what we have to do mentally and that is to win every game that we set out to play in Abidjan. Emmanuel said in an interview.
“It will be the first time most of us will be traveling out of Nigeria. All that matters to me and my teammates is to wear the Excellent FC jersey, represent Ughelli North LGA, Delta State and Nigeria. We will do our best to win the cup,” Ovie Olakpa said.
