Ex-Nigeria International, Ekwueme Sponsors Owerri Archdiocese Football Competition For Priests

Former Super Eagles player and Enyimba’s Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, has sponsored the Owerri Archdiocese Fitness Football Competition for Priests, promoting physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The tournament, organized by the sports organizers and Deans, will feature teams from different deaneries, with fixtures as follows:

– Uzoagba Vs Mbutuokahia – July 29th
– Emekuku Vs Oguta – August 5th
– Ogbaku Vs Egbema – August 12th
– Ohaji Vs Owerri – August 18th

Matches will be held every Monday from July 29th to September 9th, with semi-finals on August 26th and September 2nd.

The final match is on September 9th, with the winning team receiving a trophy, ₦200,000 cash prize, and customized jerseys. The runner-up team will receive ₦150,000 cash prize and customized jerseys.

Each team will receive ₦50,000 for preparations, and matches will start at 4 pm at the cathedral field. Latecomers will forfeit their matches. Other sports like table tennis or badminton may be added for aged priests, pending support.
