Organisers of the Evolution Cup have announced a change in time for the final of the pre-season tournament for Nationwide League One (NLO) teams holding at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
The change in time came after the country’s domestic league regulatory body, League Management Company (LMC) brought forward the MatchDay 15 fixture involving Remo Stars and Katsina United. The tie which was intially billed for Sunday at the Remo Stars Stadium, will now hold on Saturday at 4pm.
In a statement from the Evolution Cup Media Channel, Project Strategist, Olatoye Olawale while reacting to the development revealed the change in schedules of the final game.
“There has been a change in time for the final of the NLO pre-season invitational tournament, this is as a result of the rescheduling of some fixtures in the NPFL by the League Management Company”. Said Olatoye.
“The development meant a clash in date with the MatchDay 15 fixture between Remo Stars and Katsina United”.
“Since it’s the Remo Stars Stadium Pitch B facility we are using for the finale, we now have to adjust the timing of game from 4pm to 9am, as we don’t intend to infringe on the MatchDay protocol Remo Stars management have in place for its NPFL game against visiting Katsina United”.
“We regret and want to apologize for the inconveniences the development may have caused our invited guests and fans, who have made time out from their busy schedule to grace the grand finale.”
Meanwhile organizers of Evolution Cup will honor six personalities who have made outstanding impact on football development in Nigeria over the years.
Former General manager of Shooting Stars, Rasheed Balogun, who died on January 20th is a recipient of an award, for his commitment to football development in Nigeria.
