The assistant coach of Esperance of Tunisia, Nader Daoud has expressed his thought on how the Tunisian-based team fell to Plateau United.
The four-time African champions faced the Nigerian Professional Football League(NPFL) first runner-up in a keenly contested CAF Champions League elimination round. The winner of the double-legged tie will find their way to the competition’s group stages.
Expressing his worry about the match, Nader said that the team tried everything possible to win the away game but a more determined Nigerian side put the game beyond their reach.
“In the first half, the game went well. Our team was the first to score. They were hoping to score more goals but unfortunately, two goals were conceded. They made efforts and attempted to get an equalizer but the effort could not give them a goal. This has made the game more difficult for us if we will qualify”.
Following this impressive result, the NPFL outfit is in contention for qualification for the tournament’s group stage barring any blips in the reverse fixture. The second leg of the encounter will take place on Friday 14th October 2022 in the Stade Olympique De Rades, Tunisia.
