Esperanca Sagrada Kick Enugu Rangers Out of CAF Champions League

Enugu Rangers of Nigeria has been kicked out of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League after losing 3-1 in far away Luanda to Esperanca Sagrada on Sunday, Sports247 reports.

The last Nigerian team left in the competition, Enugu Rangers bade goodbye to the CAF Champions League on 3-2 on an aggregate scoreline having won the first leg of the second round,

Preliminary round with a slim margin of 1-0 in Uyo, extending to 42 years of no show for the Flying Antelopes last played in the group stage of the competition.

Rangers now joined Remo Stars who exited the competition in the first round of the preliminary round losing to the AS FAR of Morocco on a 3-2 aggregate as no Nigeria team will be represented in the money spinning group stage of the CAF Champions League for another season.

No Nigerian teams has qualified into the CAF Champions League group stage in the last four seasons and the chase continues.

It’s 20 years, a Nigerian side won the CAaf Champions League trophy, Enyimba won the 2003 and 2004 edition a last team to win the competition and remained the only team in history, to have won it from Nigeria.
