Super Eagles man, Joe Aribo has opened his EPL goalscoring account for Southampton as the Nigerian man inspired a comeback for the Saints in a thrilling 2-2 scoreline encounter against Leeds United.
Joe Aribo who made his first and full EPL start in the big loss away to Tottenham Hotspur was surprisingly named on the bench as Ralph Hassenhuttl opted for Elyounoussi in the game.
After a slow first half the game burst to life after the break. Rodrigo fired the visitors into a two-goal lead by the hour-mark, but the hosts weren’t to be beaten.
Joe Aribo, introduced from the bench in the 72nd minute, reduced the arrears with 20 minutes remaining, with Kyle Walker-Peters earning Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side a share of the spoils, moving Saints off the mark in 2022/23.
Up next for Joe Aribo and Southampton is an away clash against fellow compatriots, Iheanacho and Ndidi’s Leicester.
