Enyimba striker Chijioke Mbaoma capped off the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season in style by claiming the Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer with 17 goals.
The 21-year-old showcased his scoring prowess in the final match against Plateau United on Sunday, netting twice to secure his position at the top of the scoring charts.

Mbaoma’s outstanding performance ensured he finished the season two goals ahead of his closest rival, Sikiru Alimi of Remo Stars, who tallied 15 goals. This remarkable achievement marks a continuation of Enyimba’s dominance in producing top scorers in the NPFL.
Over the past three seasons, the Aba-based club has seen three different players win the Golden Boot. Victor Mbaoma led the charts in the 2021/22 season, Emeka Obioma followed in 2022/23, and now Chijioke Mbaoma has carried on the tradition in 2023/24.
In recognition of his achievement, Chijioke Mbaoma will receive a cash prize of N200,000 along with the prestigious Eunisell Golden Boot plaque. His exceptional goal-scoring ability has been a critical asset for Enyimba, helping them remain competitive throughout the season.
