Enyimba of Aba has made a giant step forward in their quest to make it into the group stages of CAF Confederations as the Aba Elephants played a goalless draw away to Etoile Filante in Bamako, Mali Sports247 reports.
The match which was the first leg of the second round, on Friday in Mali saw the Aba Elephants kept a clean sheet and avoided a defeat to put themselves in a good advantage ahead of the second leg which is due for Akwa Ibom at the God’swill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday, 22 September 2024.
The People’s Elephant, who were drawn bye in the first preliminary Round, are the favourite to seal up a place in the prestigious CAF Confederation group stage of which an aggregate winner over the two legs will qualify for the money spinning group stage of the competition.
Enyimba remains the only hope of Nigerian clubs to play in the quarter final after the other Nigeria representative in the competition got knocked out by Dadja FC of Benin Republic in the first preliminary round.
