John Noble, goalkeeper of Enyimba, has expressed his confidence in the club’s ability to
bring back CAF Champions League glory to Nigeria.
Noble’s remarks came after Enyimba emerged victorious in the NPL Super Six playoffs and secured qualification for the upcoming CAF Champions League.
Enyimba holds the distinction of being the only Nigerian club to have clinched Africa’s
prestigious club competition, achieving this feat in both 2003 and 2004. With their recent
success in the playoffs, they are now set to embark on another journey towards continental glory.
On the final day of the NPL playoffs, Finidi George’s Enyimba side played against former
league champions Rivers United, resulting in a 1-1 draw. This outcome proved sufficient for Enyimba to claim the title. Despite all three teams—Enyimba, Remo, and Rivers
United—finishing with nine points each, Enyimba secured the championship based on a
superior goal difference.
As a result of their triumph, Enyimba and Remo will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, while Rivers United will compete in the Confederation Cup.
Following the team’s coronation, Noble expressed his joy and described the achievement as a childhood dream fulfilled. He acknowledged the challenges faced throughout the season but commended the team’s resilience in overcoming them. Despite a rocky start, Enyimba persevered and emerged as worthy champions.
Looking ahead to the CAF Champions League, Noble exuded confidence, stating that the
team would strive to bring yet another trophy to Nigeria. Enyimba’s previous success in the competition serves as a source of inspiration and motivation for the players as they aim to make their mark on the continental stage once again.
Enyimba’s aspiration to bring back CAF Champions League glory to Nigeria demonstrates
their ambition and determination. As they embark on their campaign, the team will rely on their collective strength, skill, and strategic planning to navigate the challenges that lie
ahead. Nigerian football enthusiasts will eagerly anticipate Enyimba’s performance and hope for a successful campaign that can bring honor and pride to their nation.
