Enyeama Takes Fresh Swipe At Lille Metropole

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama has taken another verbal swipe at officials at the last club he played for, Lille Metropole, who he accused of forcing him out of the team like a villain.

Sports247.ng reports that, barely a week after Enyeama opened up on factors that led to him falling out with the club’s coach, Marcelo Bielsa, the shot-stopper has also pointed fingers of accusation at the officials.

Enyeama recounted that he did not get any formal send forth by the team when he eventually ended his contract with the club, but noted that he was not the only one to get poor treatment from Lille’s top brass.

The experienced keeper, who kept goal for Akwa United of Uyo, Enyimba of Aba as well as Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv of Israel at the height of his top form, said he was sad to end it unceremoniously at Lille.

Though Enyeama is now approaching 37 years old, he insists he still has something to offer the game and is looking forward to signing for another club based in France, so that he can be close to his family and eventually end his career on a high.

He added: “Lille wanted a fresh start which deserve respect. I will soon be 37 and I understand but the way I was pushed aside, it wasn’t good.

“Neither for me nor for the other guys who gave everything for the team like Marko Basa or Rio Mavuba.

“We were all disappointed. Marko was one of the best defenders in Ligue 1. Rio gave it all for the club and bang overnight they were apart.

“They have not been celebrated by the fans. We did not even pay homage to the team. I could not even say goodbye to the public.”
