Technical Adviser of Rangers International F.C, Coach Abdul Maikaba, has assured the club’s numerous followers that he and his wards were in the right frame of mind to achieve the expected result in the final match of the 2023 Enugu State F.A cup encounter against NLO side, Ingas F.C of New Haven.
The final encounter of the oldest annual football club competition will take place at the Rangers Int’L F.C Practice Pitch, Independence Layout, Enugu on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, and will see the perennial champions, Rangers being challenged for the trophy by a Kingsley Obiekwu tutored side that overcame Star Plus 2-1 in the quarter-finals and Giant Brillars 3-2 in the semi-final to book a place in the final match while Rangers earned a bye to this stage.
Maikaba, after Tuesday’s lite training session with his wards, stated that every challenge cup has its own obstacle hence his team will come up with the best in its arsenals to get a convincing win which will propel the team for a smooth take-off of the second round of the abridge 2022/2023 NPFL season.
“We are expecting quality opposition from the Ingas players who we believe will be taking the encounter as an opportunity to showcase what they can do to convince us that they can do it at the highest level of club football. We shall approach the match with the respect it deserves, determined to come up with the expected result that will be a springboard for us to begin the second round of the NPFL season. I appreciate the fact that they have been playing games but we would up our game to ensure our supporters leave the pitch with heads held high.”
Recall that the last time both sides clashed at the same stage in 2021, the ‘Flying Antelopes’ smiled away with a hard-earned 1-0 win inside ‘The Cathedral’, Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu on Monday, June 14, 2021, with a Chiamaka Madu’ well-drilled spot kick on 75 minutes after Daniel Vendaga had been upended inside the box making the difference.
