This move comes after the former champions had to relocate to Awka, Anambra State, due to the stadium’s previous declaration as unfit for NPFL matches during the 2022/23 season.

Enugu Rangers took the initiative to refurbish and revamp their home turf, undertaking an extensive rehabilitation project.
The overhaul included crucial upgrades such as re-grassing the playing surface, modernizing the dressing rooms, and enhancing the spectator stands to meet the required standards for top-tier football matches.
The NPFL, having duly considered and inspected the improvements made, has officially rescinded the ban on Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The approval was communicated to Rangers International through a correspondence signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi.
According to the letter, the stadium is now fully sanctioned to host matches starting from MatchDay 16, marking a triumphant return for Enugu Rangers to their home turf.
In a twist of fate, the Flying Antelopes are set to host their traditional rivals, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, at the revered Coal City.

The prospect of witnessing a clash between these titans at the iconic Cathedral promises to reignite the fervor and passion that has long defined the football culture in Nigeria.
