The race, which was tightly contested, saw James narrowly edged out by Botswana’s Van Wyk Tumo Stagato, who stormed to victory in 20.88 seconds. South Africa’s Maponyane Bradley rounded out the top three, finishing third in 21.06 seconds.

James’ impressive performance not only marked a personal season’s best, but also highlighted his growing consistency and competitiveness in the 200m event this season. The 20-year-old has been gradually building momentum, and this latest showing in Potchefstroom solidifies his status as one to watch among Africa’s sprinting prospects.

With several meets still to come in the season, James will be aiming to dip under the 20.80s mark and continue to make his mark on the international sprinting scene.
