Watford FC forward Emmanuel Dennis has revealed why he imitated Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siuu’ celebration after scoring against Real Madrid in a Champions League fixture in 2019.
The then 22-year-old netted a brace for Club Brugge at the Santiago Bernabeu in a Champions League group stage game that ended 2-2.
Dennis gave the Belgian side a two-goal lead in the first half, going on to produce Ronaldo’s ‘siuu’ celebration in front of the home fans after scoring his second.
Speaking on Watford Inside The Hive Podcast, Dennis said on the celebration from two years back:
“Before the game, I was having arguments with my friends. I was making jokes, I said to them I’m gonna score and then do the ‘siuu’ celebration just to piss them off. So they said ‘nah you can’t do it and then I said yeah you will see and then I scored and did it. After the game, my phone was blowing up.”
Dennis, now 24, has since left Brugge and joined Watford in the summer. The Nigerian has 4 goals and 5 assists from 11 Premier League games this season.
