Emmanuel Dennis scored for the third Premier League game in a row as Watford FC fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at the Vicarage Road on Wednesday night.
Dennis canceled out Mason Mount’s opener for the league leaders with a lovely goal for Watford deep inside the first half following a fast break. Substitute Hakim Ziyech would net the winner for Chelsea with 72 minutes gone on the clock.
Dennis made a nuisance of himself to the Chelsea backline with his trickery and directness, drawing multiple fouls from the away side. The Nigerian winger was a menace down the right for Watford, particularly in the first half.
With his goal, the 24-year old has found the back of the net once in each of his last three matches for Watford after netting in games against Manchester United and Leicester City. Dennis has 6 goals and 5 assists from 13 Premier League outings this season.
Willian Troost-Ekong was an assured figure at the heart of the defense for the Hornets in the encounter. Claudio Ranieri’s men will host Manchester City in their next league game on Saturday. Watford currently sits in 17th place on the table with 13 points from 14 matches, 3 points above the relegation zone.
