Former Head Coach of Tanzania and ex Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amunike has backed Victor Osimhen’s Africa record move to Napoli earlier this week revealing that the lethal goal scorer has what it takes to hit the ground running while also hoping for more top moves for Nigerian players.
Amunike posited in a recent chat: “We thank God for bringing out these players, you might also be a coach and never can get good players you expect, it shows that whatever you are doing, forget whatever you are getting and do what’s needful, at the right time, regardless of people not agreeing with you, time will place you in the right place”.
“Am very happy for Victor and other players, they are growing and coming up, we did our work in a professional way and manner, that we will never deny and continue to do if we have the opportunity to serve the country or anywhere else, in Tanzania, we went there, they were very fond of selecting players from only two clubs, getting there, we changed everything and of course there will be fights and disagreements, some journalist were against it, we stood firm and believed in what we did and God, we fought then, we have moved on, God will keep helping this player”.
He further explained that to achieve something meaningful, there is a need to have a strong team, “it isn’t about 2 to 3, strong and good players in all departments, and also on the bench so that at any given time, anybody can play. This will also help the coach and players will have the confidence to compete.”
“We wish him well, he’s now in Italy, God will shine his light towards him, he is the Nigeria future at 22, it’s a privilege to coach him,” Amunike stated.
