Emelem United Umunede, Winners FC Agbor Obi and Unity Stars FC Ewuru all bagged three points in the opening Fixtures of the Ika Grassroots Football League which kicked off on Sunday 29th August.
Christian Ebun 15th minute strike and Destiny Isioma’s 48th minute strike was all Winners FC needed to pick 3 points away at Akumazi United FC Akumazi on Sunday 29th.
Endurance Isiegbe’s own goal was enough for Unity Stars to defeat Green Rangers at their Gbenoba Grammar School Backyard. Green Rangers Coach Walter Osa was left to rue the defeat as his strikers couldn’t convert.
On Monday KG Sports Academy travelled to Boji Boji Owa to face fellow academics Divine Academy and took an early lead on the 10th minute through lanking Big Do who leapt above all to head home the corner kick.
Prosper Ozegbe and Debutant Emmanuel Otutu missed chances to double the KG Boys lead before the break and Divine Academy came back stronger in the second half to level scores through Kelvin after beating the off side trap from a lofty pass from Elijah in the 78th minute.
Emelem United shot top.of the table with 4 unreplied goals against Ika Lions at their Gbenoba Home. Samuel Sneijder opened scores for the visiting Umunede boys in the first half and Emefiene James, Osakwe Bright, Onyekosor Pascal then scored in the second half to give the Coach Emmanuel Obiora side a comfortable victory.
The last match of week 1 was Gallilee FC Uteogbeje playing host to Rainbow FC of Agbor at the Galilee stadium and the home side took an early 10th minute lead through Emmanuel Atanaza. Rainbow missed many chances to level scores in the first half and whatever Coach Matthew Could have said in the half time break worked as Ekpenisi Lugard draw level in the 48th minute.
Both sides slugged it out to a 1-1 Draw to share the points.
Emelem are now top with 3 points and superior goals difference with Winners and Unity while Ika Lions, Akumazi United and Green Rangers are at the bottom.of the table after week 1.

Week 2 Matches will resume on 1st September with Winners FC Agbor obi hosting Divine Academy Boji Boji Owa and on 2nd September 4 other matches will hold at various pitches.
KG Sports will host Galilee Uteogbeje at Gbenoba Grammar School, Unity Stars will host Ika Lions FC At AgwaEwuru Sec School, Akumazi will look to bounce back from their week 1 defeat when they travelling to Nearby Umunede to face leaders Emelem and Rainbows will host Green Rangers at the University of Delta pitch.
