Emelem United, Unity Stars Maintan Lead in Ika Grassroots Football League

Ika Grassroots Football League Week 2 Matches was concluded on 2nd September with Games at 5 centers.

Emelem United maintained their top spot with a 2-0 Convincing win over local rivals Akumazi United at their Ogbe Model Primary School home.
Goals from Samuel Sneijder and Sunday Colins in each half was enough for the coach Emmanuel Obiora lads to earn the 3 points leaving Akumazi to continue Search of their first league goal nor points.

Unity Stars recovered from an early Shock which visiting Ika Lions took the lead via Coach Player Odili Chukwuka in the 5th minute of the game. Unity recovered with 3 Goals from Monday Emmanuel, Beleku Seyi and Okuta Stephen to get their second consecutive victory.

KG Sports Academy moved to 3rd place on the ladder with an emphatic 2-0 Win over Gallilee FC of Uteogbeje.
The match was the Acedemy first home match at their Gbenoba Grammar School Ground after posting a 1-1 Draw away to Divine Academy in Week 1.

Prosper Ozegbe Headed home a lofty cross from skipper Joseph Ukah in the 2nd Minute of the match before Substitute Emmanuel Emefiele doubled the lead in the 78th minute after KG missed several chances to put the game beyond the visitors.

Emefiele missed a 85th minute Penalty after mercurial Utomi Godstime was brought down in the Post, enterprising Goalkeeper Oluwaseyi Ojo saved it but the home side earned all three points to celebrate their Director Dr Ken Gadaffi’s Birthday.

Over at the University of Delta, Agbor Green Rangers FC forced Rainbow FC to a goaless Draw at their backyard to earn their first league point. It was Rainbow FC’s Second Consecutive Draw.

Earlier on Wednesday Winners FC were held to a 0-0 Draw by Youthful Divine Academy. The Coach Ezeki Elvis side were enterprising but thanks to Winners Goalkeeper Jude who saved the day for the home side.

Emelem tops with 6 points after week 2 followed by Unity also with 6 points but less GD. KG Sports Academy are 3rd with 4 points same with Winners FC in 4th place.

Meanwhile Akumazi and Ika Lions occupies the bottom of the table with both sides pointless after week 2.

Week 3 resumes on 8th September with Divine FC playing Host to Emelem United at Owa Model Sec School while Green Rangers will host KG Sports Academy in a local Derby at Gbenoba Grammar School.

Unity FC will travel to Uteogbeje to face Galillee FC.

On Thursday Ika Lions will host Winners FC while Rainbow FC Agbor will travel to Akumazi to tackle Akumazi United.
