Coach of Young Talent 99, Segun Daniel has confessed that Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens almost stopped us when both clash recently at the just concluded U-19 Aare Onikoyi female football competition.
Young Talent 99 forced their opponents to 2-2 at the regulation time before winning the game 7-6 on penalty shootouts.
The tournament was held recently at Campos sports center, Lagos island.
Daniel who spoke to our correspondent after the game said he was surprised that Eletu Queens could put up such a performance noted that the opponents lost the game due to their goalkeeper’s poor run.
“We would have lost the match but we got our late equalizer which took us to penalty shootouts. Eletu Queen’s goalie was not at her best and we capitalized on that to win the game,” he said.
In his reaction, assistant coach of Eletu Queens, Ekala Jeremiah expressed sadness saying that they lost the match as a result of penalty shootouts.
“My girls tried their best but their best was not enough to win the game, Of course, we have problems in the goalkeeping area but we coaching crew take responsibility and take results in good faith,” he added.
In the male category, Eto o FA defeated Latoyem FA 3-0 to win the title for the first time.
Addressing the journalists, the cup donor, Are Tomori Williams expressed delight with the organization, standard of play by the finalists saying that the best team won the trophy.
He promised that he would continue to sponsor the tournament yearly as part of his contribution to football development in the state.
