Although the team performed admirably in events like the 100 and 400-meter races, egg race, sack race, and squat race, they faced a setback during the skipping competition when the skipping rope malfunctioned, causing a minor dip in their performance.
In an exclusive interview with Sports 247, Benita graciously shared her experiences and insights on how she manages her time efficiently to actively participate and lead her team. “When you have a passion for something, you find a way to give your time and dedication,” she said. “Joining this group has brought immense joy to my life. Witnessing people doing what I love to do puts a smile on my face. Since I became part of this community, my life has transformed drastically. I find myself smiling more often.”
Benita’s influence extended beyond herself as she inspired others to join the Fit Mum group. “I’ve encouraged many women from my church and my neighbors to join. I once invited a lady who was struggling with irregular menstruation, and after starting the exercise sessions, her health improved, and she experienced regular menstrual flow. Her husband witnessed this transformation and has become a staunch supporter of her newfound passion for fitness.”
As an exco member of the Fit Mum foundation, Benita spoke of the challenges and responsibilities that come with leading a diverse group of women from different backgrounds. “Being a leader is not easy, with all the headaches and stress,” she shared. “As a leader, you have to be the least among them, and you must strive to carry everyone along, even when making tough decisions.”
With high hopes for the future, Benita eagerly anticipates the impact of the inter-group sports competition in attracting more women to join the Fit Mum community. “I believe our number is going to be doubled after this program,” she confidently expressed. “Many people in this vicinity are yet to hear about us, and the exposure from this competition will undoubtedly spark curiosity and interest in our cause.”
As Benita Akinrodoye and the Fit Mum foundation continue to empower women through fitness and personal development, their impact on the community is bound to soar, transforming lives and nurturing a healthier and more empowered generation of women.
