Coach of Enyimba Fc of Aba, Fatai Osho has admitted that his team were defeated as a result of poor defending at the back, which cost them the game.
The Peoples Elephant, away from home were hammered 3-0 by El Meirreikh of Sudan in the 1st Leg of their CAF Champions League encounter played yesterday, with El Meirreikh’s forward, Saif Terry scoring all the goals in the encounter to hand Fatai Osho’s boys a huge mountain to climb ahead of the return leg in Nigeria.
The result sees Enyimba needing to win with 4 unreplyed goals against the Sudanese side to qualify for the group stages of the competition.
In a Chat with Sports247 after his team’s 3-0 away loss, Fatai Osho blamed poor defending and mistakes at the back for their bad outing in Sudan, saying that his boys should have performed much better than they did.
“It is really a painful one. Every mistake on our part, they got it punished and that was very good on their side. In terms of play, we did very well but we needed to be a bit tidy at the back, ” he admitted.
The reverse fixture is set to hold on January 5th, 2021 at the Aba Township Stadium in Nigeria.
