Ekuku Agbor United FC and Winners Fc have gone tops of the Group A and B table of the ongoing KG Sports Foundation Cup as round one matches came to a climax on Thursday.
On Tuesday the Boys From Ekuku Agbor Forced Tournament favorite KG Sports Academy to a goalless draw at the Gbenoba Grammar School Stadium. KG Sports Dominated the match with an 80-20% possession but could not break the hard wall of defense of the Ekuku Agbor boys as both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.
KG Sports Defeated Superfly 2-0 in their first match and Ekuku Agbor United also defeated the same side 3-1 thus both teams now have 4 points apiece but the Ekuku Agbor boys are on top on goal aggregates.
KG Sports will take on Superfly FC on Monday 31st May while Ekuku Agbor Will do battle with Superfly on Wednesday, June 2nd.
Both sides will meet on Friday, June 4th to determine the group leader to progress to the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Rainbow FC gave themselves a lifeline to Qualify after a 2-0 win against Green Rangers on Thursday, May 27. Two goals in the second half following some defensive errors now put green rangers on the edge. The Onwundijor boys will need to win their next two matches to give themselves a chance to qualify.
Winners FC top Group B with 6 points as they maintained their 100% record after victories over Rainbow FC and Green.
Winners will take on Green Rangers on Tuesday, June 1st at Gbenoba Ground before dancing off Rainbow on June 3rd at College field.
The KG Sports Foundation Cup Finals is billed for June 12 to mark this year’s Democracy Day Celebrations.
