Players of Ekiti United football club have been asked to resume training having been on break since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria since March.
Secretary of the club, Ayodeji Olowolafe says the directive for the resumption was given by the supervising ministry of Youth and Sports Development today November 4, 2020
The team tutored by coach Ayodeji Ayeni will promptly begin training in preparation for the re-commencement of the Nigeria National Football League as of tomorrow November 5.
Speaking with the captain of Ekiti United FC, Tunde Bello a.k.a Fele said the players were rearing to go adding that at least 50% of the squad are on the ground ready to join the coaching crew in training.
The club captain commended the state government for prompt payment of player and coaches’ salaries as and when due saying the gesture had helped them to sustain their households during the break to date.
Recall that the players of all teams in all the football leagues in Nigeria including the Nigeria premier league (NPFL ) and the Nigeria National football League (NNL) have gone on a break following the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in the country.
It is expected that actions will resume in the football leagues before the year runs out.
In the meantime, the secretary of the club, Ayodeji Olowolafe has traveled to Abuja for the club owners’ meeting with other stakeholders from across the country.
