Ekiti State’s female FA cup took centre stage in the early hours of Tuesday 20th of June as Ekiti Queens filed out against Salem City for a place in the National Aiteo Cup.
The Ekiti FA cup which is known as the oldest football competition in the state saw two heavy weight female football teams do battle to win the prestigeous prize.
Ekiti Queens emerged champions after beating Salem City by 2 goals to nil in an encounter which was keenly contested. The Eleru Babes took a place in front in the 15th minute with a Tom Ruth free kick beautifully played over the well arranged wall which also the goal keeper had no answer to.
It became tougher for the Oye-Ekiti base team as Ekiti Queens doubled thier lead through a goal from Eunice Akinloye which was beautifully supported by Amaka Christopher to get the game beyond the reach of Salem City.
This will be a record winning for the Elerus as they lift the cup the second time in a roll. Ekiti Queens will now represent the state in the National Aiteo Cup.
