Ekiti football Association yesterday received a needed support to further boost its drive to develop football in the state, as well as improve the existing sports facilities.
Ekiti FA chairman, Bayo Olanlege, Wednesday, paid the Special Adviser to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Investment, Trade and Innovations, Akintunde Oyebode a courtesy visit in his office, as parts of plans to get support for the several projects of the FA.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting which he described as fruitful, Olanlege disclosed that the FA is committed to ensuring that football in Ekiti state gets all necessary supports needed for it to grow.
” I must say that I am elated after meeting with Mr. Oyebode. He is a man who is passionately committed to the development of youths, and particularly, football in Ekiti state.
” We are on a drive to woo potential sponsors and investors to help us grow our football. And some of our brands that urgently needs support are the Ekiti state cadet teams. And I am happy to announce that Ikole stadium, henceforth, would be the permanent ground for the cadet teams.
According to Olanlege, the Special Adviser to the state governor on Investment, Trade and Innovations, Oyebode, immediately went into action as he directed a company to move to the Ikole stadium and clear the overgrown grasses in and around the complex withing 48hrs.
Oyebode also promised to work towards the construction a 1,000 capacity sitting terrace at the Ikole stadium. Olanlege further remarked that such support are the needed fillip that would encourage the FA, as well as boost the morale of youths in the state to take sports as a career.
The amiable FA boss went ahead to admonish well placed individuals and corporate organizations in the state to key into the projects of the association as it continues its relentless drives towards ensuring that it build an endearing and sustainable football legacy for the state.
