Ejigbo LCDA, Others To Sponsor JK Unity Cup

Ejigbo Local Council Development Area in Lagos is planning to take over the sponsorship of the forthcoming Jakande Estate Unity Football Competition which begins 23 November at Oke Afa Jakande Estate football pitch, Isolo.

The much awaited competition would begin on Saturday as Junction Base football team face Quiet Storm football team in the opening match. Ten teams are competing for honours in the tournament which last for three weeks.

The Chairman Organizing Committee, Oluwaseun Adekoya disclosed to journalists in Lagos that the competition would be sponsored by the council and urged the participating teams to play the game according to the rules and regulations.

“We have written a letter to Ejigbo LCDA boss, Hon Monsuru Oloyede Bello and we have been told by the Secretary to the council, Paul Fregene that the council is ready to sponsor the competition. Don’t forget that the council chairman gave us substantial amount of money last year and he is expecting to assist us this year,”s Adekoya who promised that this year’s edition would be better organized.

Adekoya said a notable politician in Ejigbo, Honourable Peter Ajayi who is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-olu on Political Matter has promised the organizers financial assistance to make the tourney a memorable one. He also revealed that the organizing committee has written a member of House of Representatives, Honourable Ganiu Abiodun Johnson who has graciously promised to contribute his own quota to the competition.

“We are expecting all the individuals including Ejigbo LCDA to assist us to make this year’s edition a better organized. Presently Jakande is agog and all the participating teams are expecting the competition to kick off. I have received phone on daily basis and I can see that this year would be colorful and exciting one,” he said

Among members in the organizing committee are Abiodun Iberu, Kolade Faleye, Rafiat Adebola Wasiu Onibudo, Dayo Akito, Ope Fasesin and Adeola Agiri.
