Nigeria’s Pillar Of Sports, High Chief Donatus Agu- Ejidike, JP, has congratulated the Nigerian team to the just concluded 2019 All African Games held in Morocco.
Team Nigeria to the ‘African Olympics’ improved upon its last appearance four years ago in Mozambique when it came third on the overall medals table. This time, Nigeria claimed second place spot behind Egypt who came first on the table.
In a statement released by the National Office of the Pillar Of Sports, Ejidike commended the Nigerian contingent to the games for putting up what he described as a ‘great show’.
” I am very proud of the Nigerian team to the All African games. Their performances were great and also encouraging. They showed us that the average Nigerian can achieve whatever they set their minds at.
” I believe with better preparations and improved welfare packages, Nigerian athletes can rule the world of sports,” Ejidike, a board member of the Karate Federation of Nigeria remarked.
The renowned grassroots sports promoter and philanthropist, also congratulated the newly appointed sports minister, Sunday Dare, for starting his tenure in office with the great outing of Team Nigeria to the All African games.
He admonished the various sports federations and the sports ministry, to build upon the success achieved at the games. While he also advised the athletes not to rest on their oars. Adding that the outcomes of the games should be seen as an elixir for better performance at the 2020 Olympic games in Japan.
