Eight grassroots football clubs from Nigeria are set to slug it out in the Cage Fight which would hold from October 17th to 20th.
This is a Cash Cow for football stakeholders with a total of 50 million on offer.
The Cage Fight of a competition would be played at the Legacy Pitch in Lagos. Winner of the competition (which will end on November 21) will be given a cash prize of 20 million naira, while second-placed and third-placed teams will receive 10 million naira and 5 million naira respectively.
15 million naira has been set aside for logistics and other expenses.
36 Lion Investment and Diamond Sports Management have packaged the tournament.
The Proprietor of 36 Lion and one of the organising brains behind the Cage Fight, Gafar Liameed, said that the soccer coaches and top European scouts and agents will be on hand to select the best players of the competition.
“We want to discover which are the top football academies in this country through this competition. Every academy likes to think they are the best, but we hope a competition like this will help settle the question and provide stars for foreign clubs,” Liameed said.
“I am not doing it alone, it is a consortium of top private club owners in Nigeria, giving back to the stakeholders and presenting our players with great opportunities.”
“Every Nigerian child are born with a football gene in them. It’s our job to identify their physical differences, give them the best environment to maximize their potentials,” he added.
