EID-EL-KABIR: Ganiyu Majekodunmi Urges Nigerians to Keep Faith in Super Eagles and Embrace Eid-el-Kabir’s Lessons

Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, the Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association and a member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Board, has called on Nigerians to maintain their belief in the Super Eagles as they navigate the challenging path towards World Cup qualification.

His message coincides with the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, a time of reflection and gratitude for the Muslim community.

In his heartfelt address, Majekodunmi extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria, celebrating the essence of Eid-el-Kabir. “I want to celebrate with all our Muslim brothers and sisters during this lovely season. It comes once a year, and we thank God for another year like this,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of the festival’s themes of sacrifice and faith, drawing parallels to the current state of Nigerian football.

Majekodunmi acknowledged the difficulties facing the Super Eagles, particularly in their World Cup qualification campaign, but he remained optimistic. “I urge all Nigerians to keep faith in our Super Eagles. I know it looks very difficult right now, considering our position in the World Cup qualifiers. However, in the spirit of unity and faith in our team, I believe Nigeria will surely qualify,” he said with conviction.

He highlighted the human aspect of the game, recognizing that mistakes are part of the journey but stressing the importance of learning and correcting them. “We are all human, and the tendency to make mistakes is always there. But having a listening ear and making corrections is the mark of a great leader. I urge everyone to keep the faith alive; we will surely qualify.”

Majekodunmi also drew a poignant connection between the teachings of Eid-el-Kabir and the current football scenario. “The lesson of Eid-el-Kabir is all about sacrifice and faith. As we celebrate today, let’s imbibe these lessons from our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Prophet Abraham (AS). These values are essential not just in life but also in supporting our national team.”

In his closing remarks, Majekodunmi called on Nigerians to stand united and hopeful, believing in the Super Eagles’ ability to overcome challenges and achieve success on the world stage.
