Match day three in the Fusion Football Championship saw top games with lots of goals and Starbase FC suffered a heavy loss after two consecutive wins.
Starbase FC were beaten 4-1 by Dominion Hotspur FC in Agege Stadium with striker Eguavoen Richie scoring the only goal for Starbase.
“I feel really bad but it’s part of the game. This is our first loss and I’m sure we’ll come back better in the next game. If at all we were to lose, not by this margin but I believe we’ll come back strong in the next game,” Richie said.
“This is just the third game, there’s still a long way to go as we still have more games and we’ll do well for sure,” he added.
The player who bears the same name with Ex-international and former Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen explained his relationship with the Nigerian legend.
“My dad used to tell me how the family is an extended one. We’re from the same state and local government, my dad knows him but personally I don’t know him, I’ve not seen him before and I don’t think he knows me,” Richie said.
The striker also added how he’s the next Eguavoen and it’s his time. “I’m the next Eguavoen, he (Austin) retired long long time ago. This is my own era and I’ll do well for sure,” he concluded.
