Super Eagles’ interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has received a very warm welcome message and vote of confidence from players in the Nigerian national team.
Sports247.ng reports that the declaration of total support from the Eagles’ players for Eguavoen was delivered by the captain of the side, William Troost Ekong.
The skipper stated as much while speaking in the pre-match conference ahead of Tuesday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Rwanda in Kigali.
Ekong declared emphatically, “We are very, very happy to see Coach Eguavoen back with us. He has returned to the fort at a very important time.”
Ekong also spoke about cordial relationships flowing among all the players, saying: “We are one big family, and it’s like we are blood brothers.
“We may be missing a few faces who are regulars in the team but, apart from that, we have a full house.
“We are very motivated, and we want a round of good results for Nigeria.”
He concluded with his verdict ahead of Tuesday’s match and disclosed that all the players want to ensure they keep the winning momentum that began with Saturday’s 3-0 victory over the Benin Republic in Uyo.
Ekong stressed, “We expect to win every game, and we are highly motivated to make that happen.
“We want to make a change from recent defeats. So, we are ready to play and win.”
