Broad City Centre forward, Youmor Bibowei Gabriel, has revealed the need for education even as a football player while also commending the team owner, Bamidele Olusanya effort to give life to young prospects and helping talented footballers achieve their life goal.
Broad City is one of the fastest teams heading Lagos right now owned by Bamidele Olusanya, and he’s really doing his best to bring out players and help send them to clubs home and abroad.
In an exclusive interview with sports247.ng, Gabriel admitted that every player wants to go abroad, “but you know everything in life, you have to start from somewhere, do not just rush life, start from the grassroots and see what happens from there.”
“A lot of players have aspirations to go to Europe but at the end of the day, wherever you find yourself, always give your best.”
On combining education and football, he said “football is good for entertaining people, it has helped a lot of people get out of depression and so many ills in the society. Education is also very important, I was a student at the University of Lagos so I spent a lot of time in school and when I came to football, it’s another different world entirely.”
“So being educated as a footballer is one of the greatest blessings because I am educated and I still play football and I believe after my career, there’s something better to fall unto,” he remarked.
