Chairman of Owan West Local Government in Edo, Frank Ilaboya, has revealed that the state in no time will become the biggest place for talent hunting in sports as the facilities at the remodeled Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium which are world-class would greatly inspire the development of talents.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play host to Sierra-Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin for the AFCON Qualifiers Clash after it was supervised and declared ‘world-class’ by the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick.
He posits that the facilities provided by the state government at the remodeled stadium have placed the state in a position to excel in all areas of sports activities.
“We are going back to the era when Edo used to be the state that provides most of the sportsmen and women for every national or international sports event.
“The facilities at the stadium are awesome,’’ Ilaboya, who is a former Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), said.
He said the development would help in gingering a fresh sports revolution in the state.
“Though in a smaller form, these same facilities are being replicated by the government in the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
“This is therefore a sports revolution in Edo, and Edo is going to explode with talents and expectations. Indeed, we are back to where we used to be,’’ the LG chairman said.
