The Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, alongside other top government officials, will officially unveil the newly appointed management teams for Edo Queens Football Club and Bendel Insurance Football Club on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025.

The ceremony will take place at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, starting at 10:00 AM.

The Executive Governor of Edo State, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, will grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, with his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, as Guest of Honour.

Among those to be unveiled are Rollanson Aituari Odeh as General Manager of Edo Queens FC, Austin Iyamu as Technical Director, Peter Obanor as Team Manager for Bendel Insurance FC, and Greg Ikhenoba as the confirmed substantive Head Coach.

The newly appointed officials, many of whom are ex-players and football legends, bring a wealth of experience to their roles and are expected to lead their teams to greater heights.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Edo State has taken significant steps to strengthen its clubs. Edo Queens, the defending champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), have recruited 13 new players to bolster their squad. Bendel Insurance FC is also active in the NPFL transfer market as they gear up for the second half of the season.

These players, alongside the technical and management teams, will be presented during the ceremony.

Hon. Enabulele emphasized that the appointments are part of Governor Okpebholo’s mandate to revamp the sports sector in the state.

The focus is on effective and efficient management to ensure sustainable progress for both clubs.

Edo Queens will commence their title defense in the NWFL on Wednesday, January 15th, with a match against Abia Angels FC at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

The league opener is expected to draw notable figures from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the NWFL to the historic city.

These developments signify a renewed commitment by the Edo State government to position its football teams as leaders in Nigerian sports, fostering growth and excellence in the sector
