The maiden Edo state Head of Service Cup Football tournament has been scheduled to kick off tomorrow, Wednesday 15th, 2023 as preparation by all categories of civil servants in the state is in top gear.

Initiated by the Edo state Head of Service Barr Anthony Okungbowa, the football tournament is designed to promote social interactions and physical health among public servants across various ministries, departments, and Agencies in the state.

According to the organizers, eighteen teams will be participating in the football tournament which is expected to kick off by 3 pm at the Western Boys High School mini stadium, Benin City.

Programmed to be played in a knock-out format, the Edo state Head of Service Cup football tournament, climax in the second week of December 2023 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Govt house Football team is among the eighteen teams registered for the tournament. Other teams include the Edo State Sports Commission, the Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development, the Ministry of Health, the Office of the Auditor General, the Electricity Regulatory Commission, and ICTA.

Others include Eddosubeb, Edo State School of Health Technology, Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Edo State Public Building, and Maintenance Agency.

Others are the Ministry of mining and Energy, Edsogpadec, Edo state fire service, Edo state college of nursing, EdOGis, Ministry of Agriculture and natural resources, and Procurement Agency.

The opening match will see the College of Agriculture take on EDSOPADEC by 3 pm at Western Boys High School mini stadium, Ikpoba Hill, Benin.

The winner of the tie will face the Ministry of Health on the 17th of November at Western Boys High School mini stadium for a place in the second round against the Government House team on the 22nd of November, 2023.
