The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has recognized and celebrated nine Edo athletes who were part of Nigeria’s U-19 female cricket team at the recently concluded ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup in Malaysia.
Hon. Enabulele praised the young cricketers, the Edo Cricket Association, and the President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Hon. Uyi Akpata, for their outstanding contributions to the sport. He described the athletes as distinguished ambassadors who have brought pride to the state and deserve government recognition.

Expressing his admiration for their achievements, Enabulele emphasized the importance of grassroots sports development, aligning with Governor Okpebholo’s vision for nurturing young talents. He commended the team’s dedication and assured them of continued government support.
To reward their efforts, the Edo Sports Commission chairman presented the team with a cash prize of one million naira. He also pledged further support for cricket development in the state, directing the association to submit details of their needs, including an upgrade of training facilities, to enhance performance.
The celebrated athletes include team captain Lucky Piety Ebosetale, vice-captain Agboya Peculiar, Victory Igbinedion, Peace Usen-Adekunle, Adeshola Chukwuonye Christabel, Eguakun Omosigbo, Ogudai Ehimen Beauty, and Akhigbe Anointed, along with their coach, Theophilus Adolphus Ibodeme.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Coach Ibodeme and Captain Ebosetale expressed gratitude to Hon. Enabulele and the Edo Sports Commission for their warm reception and support.
Hon. Enabulele was accompanied at the event by Acting Permanent Secretary Mrs. A.P. Efe-Amenze, Executive Director of Sports Development and Operations Mrs. Sabina Chikere, Coach Baldwin Bazuaye (MON), and other board members.
