Defending Champions of Edo State Women’s Federation Cup, Edo Queens FC will on Wednesday, June 15 2022, slug it out with Brave Heart Queens football club in the finals of the State Women Federation Cup.
The match is billed for 2 pm at the popular Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin-City
Edo Queens FC kicked off their campaign for the State FA Cup on a winning note by whitewashing Genesis Queens FC 9-0 in the semi-final game played last week, at the Western Boys High School Benin-City.
Edo Queens will go into the game tomorrow with a different approach and mindset to defend the trophy they have won for the past six seasons.
A win for Edo Queens in tomorrow’s encounter will automatically give them a ticket for the National Aiteo Cup competition which is expected to begin soon across the country.
Meanwhile, Edo Queens football tactician, Grace Kurah has promised to select the best for the important match, adding that the State FA Cup will give her an opportunity of accessing the team very well and know those that will wear Edo State glamorous jerseys for the Aiteo Cup proper.
“As I said before in my interviews, Edo Queens have a huge pedigree and they also have both quality and quantity players. We must select the best at all times to win our games. I have told the players that they must commit themselves fully to all games whether it is local or national.”
“Since I joined the team, I have worked with the team on their shape defensively I don’t like my team losing matches, I always want my team to win, so we must fight against the opponents at every given time in competitions. I’m very convinced that we are going to improve, and we are going to get better and stronger in the games to come.”
Edo Queens have played four competitive games under the tutelage of coach Grace Kurah, and the girls have improved tremendously. And if they continue with this form, Edo Queens will be a team to beat in subsequent competitions.
Also, the Sports loving Deputy Governor Rt. Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu has charged the girls to put their eyes on winning the Aiteo Cup. He stressed that government will continue to provide necessary logistics that will make the team fly.
Football lovers in Edo State can look forward to this exciting showpiece tomorrow at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin-City.
