Champions of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL for 2023/24 season Edo Queens Football Club of Benin are currently in top flight preparations for the fourth edition of the preliminary stage of WAFU-B play- Off in Cote D’Ivoire which run from August 10th through 23rd 2024.

Edo Queens who are currently out of Benin City for one month intensive training programme are in the right frame of mind ready to hit West Africa country for the battle. This will be Edo Queens’ first continental inter- clubs competition since inception of the State owned club.
A total of Seven countries will be participating in Zone B of WAFU-B play- Off in Cote D’Ivoire. Edo Queens have the most challenging task as they battle other West African countries in the preliminary stage. They are playing against old adversaries most experienced like Ampen Darkoa of Ghana, Burkina Faso, host country Cote D’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Nigeria and Togo.
This contenders are all aiming to succeed as title holders. Any country that qualifies from Zone B, will join others from other zones where they lock horns with each in a thrilling continental showpiece for the last stage of the epic clash to determine who wears the most prestigious African Women’s Champions League crown.
It will not be bed of roses for the Seven teams in Zone B because of the qualities of players that will be paraded by each country. The Nigerian representatives Looking at the dominance of the Nigerian National Women teams the Super Falcons, and the U- 20 and U- 17 in the continent, Edo Queens FC may likely be the focus point of the competition.
Rivers Angels FC, Bayelsa Queens FC and Delta Queens FC have had the Nigerian National flag hoisted in continental showpiece, Rivers Angels and Delta Queens did not do so well. Bayelsa Queens got to the last stage of the second edition and came back with third position.
The reigning NWFL champions Edo Queens FC, might be the under- Dogs of this competition. The players are doing excellently well in camp, the State government have provided the necessary logistics needed for the Benin based ladies to excel in this continental assignment. The entire team is not leaving anything to chance. Preparations is in top gear and the players ready to soar.
As build up to the championship, quality players from various NWFL premiership clubs have been invited to Edo Queens by the management to help beef up the team, and the players invited are already training with team for the big showdown.
