Players of Edo Queens FC have concluded their medical fitness test exercise in preparation for the new NWFL 2020/21 football Season.
The Technical Manager of the team Rollanson Odeh, expressed happiness for a hitch-free exercise, adding that he is gradually building up the team for the new NWFL 2020/21 season, scheduled to begin on the 9th of December 2020.
“We thank God for the successful completion of the medical fitness test exercise for my players. Now that we are done with that, we have to begin intensive training in preparation for the new NWFL 2020/21 football season. We just played our first club friendly game yesterday against Abia Angels in Benin- City, and it ended 1-1. It was not a bad outing for us because we have just started building up after a long break due to the COVID-19 Pandemic that kept people at home for close to eight months. We are happy that the Federal Government has lifted the ban on contact sports. So I’m doing my best to put my players in the right frame of mind for the challenges ahead.’
“We are also preparing for a pre-season tournament in Abuja. You know that Edo Queens are the defending Champion of the first edition of the Naija Ratel pre-season tournament that was held in Makurdi earlier this year. So it is very important that we attend. The tournament will enable us to access and evaluate ourselves, know the level of our readiness for the league. It is also an opportunity for us to test our team against another female side that we would be meeting during the league proper. It is a good development for the game. And I want to commend the initiator of the program it is a welcome development, I want all Nigerian female clubs participating in the NWFL to key into the program, it will go a long way to shapen female football in the country.”
“Yes I have actually invited a number of new players to beef up my team, but right now they are currently busy with their registration, not until they are fully registered, you cannot call them your players. So when it is time for me to reveal their names I will certainly do. In Edo Queens, we have a target and by the special grace of God Almighty we will get there.”
