The NWFL was shut down on a compulsory Covid break by the management body after some reports about Covid-19 results broke. However, the chairperson of the league Aisha Falode has announced the league will resume on 10th February 2021.
This announcement definitely is a relief for players, coaches, and teams alike as they can now get back into the action they have been training and keeping fit for.
“I’m very happy about the news that the league is resuming soon, It’s all we have been waiting for. Ever since we’re on a short break, we haven’t relaxed as if the league won’t start again. We’ve been training hard as a team, knowing what is ahead of us, the task, and what is at stake. So we’re happy that the league is back,” captain of Edo Queens Glory Ogbonna said while speaking to Sports247.
She further explained how important and fierce her team’s clash with Nasarawa Amazons in MD5 will be when the league resumes. “It’s going to be a game like an El Classico, a good game that everyone will love to watch,” she said.
Nasarawa Amazons come into the game on the back of their first win in the league this season from four games while Edo Queens on the other hand played a draw in their last two games in the league this season after previously picking wins in their first two games of the season.
