Edo Dynamos of Benin City coach, Aaron Okojie has declared that he is targeting a high-point finish at the Nigerian Handball Premier League in Lagos, as he believes his side can rank among the top three teams at the end of hostilities.
While affirming that his target is to win the competition, sports247.ng can report that Okojie knows their opening day defeat at Mobolaji Johnson Sports Hall, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos might work against them in the final analysis.
Okojie, though, rated Edo Dynamos high among the competitors, as he reckons their ability to storm back from an opening day defeat, when they arrived late for their game, means the squad has a strong resolve for success.
The coach further said he is happy that his players listen to instructions on and off the court, which he says contributed to their victory against Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri.
After beating the former traditional winners 21-19, Okojie said it was a tough clash between two sides that are familiar with each other, hence his plaudits to his players for carrying the day against all odds.
“The Imo Grasshoppers are a very good side but, Edo Dynamos are number one. The girls have passion for the game and tactical discipline.
“We should be talking about second or third because the day we came in, they told us the fixtures were changed – we had no prior information.
“The team stepped down from the bus with three minutes remaining to avoid being walked over and played Defender Babes losing 17-16.
“So, there is no possibility of my girls lifting the trophy, but we stand a chance of coming second or third,” Okojie noted.
