…As Gabriel begins final journey home today in Kogi
Edo State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, has mandated all members of Edo Queens Football Club of Benin- city to attend the burial ceremony of late coach Gabriel Adejor who until his death was the head coach of Edo Queens Football Club.
The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Edo Queens Football Club and Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Deputy Governor on Sports Mrs. Sabina Amiemenoghena Chikere, disclosed this why addressing top official members of the management team at the Government House. She averred that the Deputy Governor has ordered that every member of the team is expected to be present at the burial to give late Gabriel Adejor a befitting burial ceremony. She added that she has also be mandated to lead the entire Edo Queens FC management team players, and friends to Enuezike Ette village in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State for the ceremony.
“It is sad that our dear coach Gabriel Adejor has gone to sleep in the bossom of the Lord, so as somebody that has served the state with all his heart, it is very important for us to attend his funeral service, if you look at it very critically, there is virtually nothing in this life, now that he is gone, it is our collective responsibility to go to Kogi and give him a befitting burial so that his people will know that he was good to everyone that came across his path, so we all own him that last respect. And we also pray God Almighty will give those he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”
Late coach Gabriel Adejor died on Monday the 21st September 2020, at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital UBTH, after a brief illness.
Until his sudden death, he was a devoted staff of the Edo State Sports Commission. He was also a skilful and fearless defender in his playing days with Niger Dock FC, Elkanemi FC Iwuayanwu Nationale of Owerri, and a member of Bendel Insurance golden squad that won the prestigious CAF Cup in 1993/94 Season Gabriel Adejor will begin his final journey home on the Thursday the 8th of October with Service of Songs held for him in Benin, why his body will depart Benin- City on Friday 9th October 2020 for his home town in Kogi State for burial.
